When we started this movement, we had one goal in mind and that was to win. We are in a
battle for our rights to due process. We filed our lawsuit on Friday, October 29th against the
City Council and a summons was issued. We decided to add a couple of things to the suit to
make sure we were clear on the racial gerrymandering. November 12th the City responded
to our claim, basically demanding that the Judge dismiss the case due to a partisan
Now the problem is that we never said that it was partisan, we have always said that it was
a racial gerrymandering issue.
This means that our Voter rights would be suppressed, we would not have an opportunity
to choose a candidate of our choice, and our voting strength would be diluted. The city said
that the only reason this is happening is because there is a disappointed candidate who is
upset because she can not run for City Council in District 4 against Renee Johnson.
Which is totally false. So the good news as of tonight November 15th is that the judge
denied the City Council dismissal and has given us till the 29th of November to respond to
the dismissal. The extra good news is that we have already responded to the city and have
filed it within the Federal court today, stating that they have committed Fraud upon the
court. Now the ball is back in the city court.
We are in a good position and within the next couple of days or til the 22nd, we will be
waiting to see what the judge will rule on. The City thought they were just going to wave a
magic wand and it was going away, but Hidden Valley is still in the good fight, getting into
some good trouble. You all should be very proud of yourselves for holding the “Valley” up!
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love and support. You deserve much
better than what has been happening and we have to stand together and demand our
rights. I will keep you posted on what’s happening.
